Furniture

We often find things in the trash that are just too good to pass up. Over the years we have built a number of furniture pieces out of salvaged materials, including soapstone laboratory counter tops, bowling alley floors, shopping cart casters, pipe organ pipes, bicycle parts, etc.

It's not just frugality that attracts us to the re-appropriation of salvaged materials. We find the opportunity for spontaneity and improvisation that salvaged materials allows more interesting than starting from scratch. Furthermore, the wear and tear and vestages of previous lives adds to the richness of the piece.
