The Workforce Development Center, St. Nick’s Alliance, Brooklyn, New York.
This project involved the total gut renovation of an 8,300 sq. ft. leased office space to create a job training center for St. Nick’s Alliance. The center includes six classrooms as well as administrative offices. The design employs a screen wall to visually separate the classroom and office functions while keeping open circulation and visibility for security purposes.
Although on a tight budget, the project incorporates a number of green features, including bamboo flooring, recycled content ceiling tiles and all VOC-free interior finishes. Existing carpet, ceiling tiles and metal framing were recycled.
