Strub/Haga Studio. Atlanta, GA.

This 500 sq. ft. back yard studio and shop was designed and built by the architect as an exploration into the potential reuse of salvaged materials. More than half of the materials used in construction were salvaged from the waste stream. Salvaged materials include all wall framing studs, windows, lighting, shelving from remilled floor framing, patio pavers from salvaged stone laboratory countertops, site wall of salvaged stone and motorcycle parts, a chicken coop ventilation fan, etc.

The shop is heavily insulated with cotton batt insulation and incorporates passive solar heating and cooling as well as rainwater harvesting for irrigation.

Winner, 1998 Sustainable Design Award from the American Institute of Architects, Georgia Chapter.
